Bull Development
We can feed and develop your bulls at our farm as we grow ours. Our facilities are among the most cattle and handler friendly around, allowing the cattle to be handled with very little stress. We maintain an aseptic technique when vaccinating and treating any animals, and utilize Dr. N. T. Cosby of Land O Lake feeds and Dr. Mac Wilt of Paris Vet Clinic to assist with nutrition and animal health.
Bulls are developed on a high forage ration of forage sorghum and wheat silage, hay, corn, dried distillers grain and minerals. They are gain tested on a ration, which targets a 3 lbs/day gain. This allows them to reach their full potential without the damages caused by many high gain “push” rations. At yearling age, bulls are ultrasound scanned, and hip heights and scrotal measurements are taken.
With feed costs rising, the ability of animals to grow and develop on reasonable cost rations is necessary. Our program tests this ability.

As the Missouri Unit of Basin Angus Ranch, the breeding program at Hopewell Farms parallels that of Basin Angus in Montana. The only difference in the cattle is the scenery!
We have the best of the bloodlines currently being used by Doug Stevenson of Basin Angus Ranch.The bloodlines are proven to work in Missouri fescue pastures, and will work for you.

These bulls will be available private treaty in Missouri until the end of September, 2010. After that time, they will be available in the November, 2010 Basin Angus Sale, and fall born bulls will be available in Missouri for private treaty.
